Our feature for this month was presented by our Services Manager, Terese Ryan, who gave us an update on the various items available to us for the Breeding Room, Aviary and Show Cage.

There are several new items now on the market especially for Budgerigars, where in the past we have used products for larger Parrots and Racing Pigeons.   With a number of our newer members asking some very interesting questions, Terese’s presentation was a most informative one.

On completion of her talk, our Chairman anchored 20 minutes of questions on “The Breeding Season”, directing them to other senior members for input with their experiences.

SEPTEMBER MEETING

Our Guest Lecturer was Dr. Kim Fryer, Avian Vet, from Cannon and Ball’s Clinic, Wollongong.    Kim’s topic was on “First Aid for Birds”, and she explained how observant we must be in detecting unwell birds before they become very ill.   Her Power Point Presentation was well illustrated by some very graphic photography on the symptoms to look out for in sickness, in relation to droppings, vomiting, eye injuries, stress and the importance of warmth.   Some interesting questions were asked by the large audience in attendance and Kim’s response to these was most refreshing.
